May 7, 2011

The kids and I went to the cabin today to visit Nama and Papa. We had such a great time! The boys helped Papa put together a new patio table and chairs; Nama's mother's day gift. Then we went across the river and picked dozens and dozens of daffodils. What a wonderful Saturday!

The rain finally stopped long enough for the ground to dry out enough so that Chance could till the garden! Today we planted: yukon gold potatoes, red potatoes, beets, peas, lettuce and carrots. We still need to plant: onions, pumpkins, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, watermelon and cantaloupe. I know I'm forgetting some things from both of those lists but I'll mention all the crops as I post more garden progress photos.

Here's our lovely girl painting a lovely wedge. Huh? Her class is studying simple machines in science and she brought home a little wood wedge. And since she had leftover paint from a birthday gift...what better to use it on? It is a pretty wedge.

There's a new little filly at Marc and Morelia Haws's house! She is a friendly little thing, letting us pet her and sucking our fingers. The girls are in love!

Just keep tilling, just keep tilling! Finally...it stayed dry long enough to get out and till the garden. I can't wait to plant and start seeing little green things popping up through the soil. And I really can't wait to eat fresh tomatoes, peas off the vine, lettuce and carrots. The garden is going to BIG this year! We planted tons of beets so we can refresh our pantry stock of pickled beets - my favorite!

Green Smoothies. I know they look purple, but they are really green! Lots of spinach or kale or whatever green veggie we have on hand. We started drinking these for breakfast a couple times a week because I read that they're super good for you. I'm always tired and feeling run down and I thought a green smoothie couldn't hurt. It hasn't helped yet either though. Oh well, they're tasty!

April 30, 2011

We had such a fun Saturday morning this week. Sarah spent the night at Presley's house Friday so we met her and Maggie and the girls at Barnes and Noble, then went to Cost Plus. Then we went to our favorite car wash and ate the leftover pizza I'd packed for lunch while we went through the automatic wash. Then the kids and I spent nearly a half hour vacuuming out the van. They love the car wash!

Dayton had his music program today and it was so dang cute! They did Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Can you see Goldilocks there in the background? Next time I have to remember to take Davis's flip so I can record it.

Here we are at the annual Mother-Student Breakfast. The kids love it, and so do I, except for the food. To be more clear, the kids love the food but I do not. I'd rather go to McDonald's for my beloved Egg McMuffin!

What is it about first grade? I think my kids get the most homework of all during their first grade year. It's crazy. We had to go at bedtime to pick Davis up from the high school science expo so we brought some homework along. We waited for a while so Dayton was able to get a couple pages done and quite a bit of reading done. What a good kid!

April 26, 2011

Happy Birthday to our little Dayton man! What a terrific kid! He continues to be the most lovey and cuddly of our kids...and the most challenging. We think he is perfect and wouldn't change a thing.

April 25, 2011

Dayton got a tent and some other camping stuff for his birthday from Nama Jane and Papa Dale and has been living in the tent ever since. Boys are so cute with their fascination with all things outdoors.

April 24, 2011

Davis is quite the climber! We went to Urban Ascent for the boy's birthdays and it was so fun. All the kids loved it and even mom and dad climbed a little. Happy Birthday to my first-born! What a great young man he is turning into. We all love him so much and are so proud of him.

April 23, 2011

Here we are at the ward Easter egg hunt. We'd just finished our pancakes and bacon and were bundling up to go out in the cold to find candy. Fun! Dad was even able to come with us, even though he had to wear a suit because he had to go straight to work afterward.

April 22, 2011

Digging to China and beautiful mud pies!

April 21, 2011

The kids enjoying the MK Nature Center. Really. Dayton was even having a good time but he refuses to smile for pictures lately. What a stinker.

April 20, 2011

Littlest Petshops, Little People and My Little Ponies all get along very well at our house. I guess being Little together makes for good friends!

April 19, 2011

Family traditions. The kids never get tired of them.

April 18, 2011

Sarah, Maggie and Dayton at Urban Ascent, celebrating the boy's birthdays. (Some photos this month are a bit out of order.) We had SO MUCH FUN! We'll be going back again as soon as we can afford it!

Thinking About Returning to Blogging and an Update

Hi. Hello. Anyone out there? I'm thinking about returning to the blog to share what's happening in my life. And with my kids. And ...
