Cabin Vacation 2010

We've been planning this mini-vacation for a while now and it is finally here. The kids and I are so happy to finally be here, even if it is without dad. Dang it. Wouldn't you know that his boss would extend an invitation that he didn't feel like he could refuse. It really is ok though, we understand. And we are grateful for Chance's job and that's a big deal, especially lately.

Today we mostly hung around the cabin watching tv, eating, and playing board games. We did go down to the lodge after dinner for some yummy frozen treats and to play on the swings for a bit.

Tomorrow the plan is to get up and eat breakfast, clean up the cabin and be at the pool when the gate is unlocked. The kids read on the sign that summer hours are from 10am to 11pm and I think they plan to be there the whole time. Boy will they be bummed when I'm ready for hot dogs and a nap.

What's with these Hodgson kids and their need to climb on everything? It looks like they took me seriously when I told them they couldn't climb up the outside of the cabin. I told them Papa would not think it was a good idea and they found something else to do. Phew!

Until tomorrow, good night...sleep tight...don't let the bed bugs bite...and if they do...hit 'em with your shoe.

Mother's Day 2010

Ahhh, Mother's Day. I like Mother's Day but it's not anywhere near my favorite holiday. That would be Christmas. This Mother's Day, Chance had to work all day. Total bummer. But the kids and I saved the day by heading up to "Redbud" to spend a few hours with Nama Jane and Papa Dale. We got there just in time for lunch and then the kids put their feet in the hot tub. It didn't stop there though, Dayton had on long pants and he didn't want them to get wet so I said he could just take them off and that was the beginning of the end. Dayton and Maggie ended up skinny-dipping and Sarah and Davis went in right in their clothes! Next time we won't forget the swim suits!
After we dried off, Nama took us for a walk up the road to a pasture where several mares had foals this past week and one more should have hers any day now. They were so cute! The hike up the hill to the pasture wore us out...the ride home was pretty quiet. Until Davis got a hold of the iPod!
We missed Chance and he was bummed that he didn't get to come with us but what can you do? He did bring me home chinese food and oreo cookies so I would have to say, it was an awesome Mother's Day! I am a lucky girl!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

We had a lovely Sunday today. It started with the kids letting me sleep till nearly 8:30! If you know my kids then you know that this is almost unheard of at my house. (Right Aunt Maggie?)
When I did get out of bed I made our usual Sunday breakfast: pancakes with homemade syrup. Next week we go back to 9:00am church so pancakes will be our usual Sunday lunch!

Then I bathed the kids one by one. Except Davis. I let him shower on his own. It was a real spa day with a nice long soak in the tub and manicures and pedicures and massages!

Church was short today and when we got home daddy had burgers and fries ready for us. Then jammies, half a movie, s'mores, the other half of the movie and bed! I love Sundays (and Tuesdays) when we can all be together. I always feel so.....content! What a happy life.

Lost Wallet...Again!

What is my problem with losing my wallet? I lost it again today and didn't even know about it until the bank called me! I guess this morning when Chance and I were packing the kids and all their "equipment" into the van, he put my wallet on top the car and then left it there. Oops! So later my neighbor down the street found it out in front of his house. I baked him some brownies as a reward for his good deed.

So now I have to cancel my Visa card again. I don't actually think anyone has it but the wallet had been run over several times and some of the cards fell out and I couldn't find that one. I get tired and annoyed just thinking about all this. I know it's just life but what a pain in the butt.

Chance is going to Montana on Wednesday after work to go fishing for the day on Thursday and then home really early Friday morning. I am going to miss him and worry about him the whole time but it is good that he's going. He never does anything for himself. I hope he has a great time. I'm thinking about sending the camera with him so that I will be able to post more Montana photos.
Speaking of photos, I am thinking about starting a Flickr account. I wonder though if I take enough photos to really make it worthwhile. I really need to take more pics anyway. That is a longstanding goal of mine. I keep thinking that if I had a nicer camera I would use it more, but I always have an excuse for everything. Still, I do want Maggie's camera real bad. (Hint, hint Maggie. Hurry up and buy a new one!)

I need help

Well obviously I need help! The thing I need help with today is keeping a kid in bed. Whenever I tuck Dayton in (nap or at night) he pretty much always gets up. He doesn't come upstairs though. He just goes and bugs Sarah or gets toys out of the toybox and plays. Once he finally goes to sleep at naptime, he sleeps really good - 2 hours or more. But then at night he is sometimes awake till like 10:30, so I think his nap is starting too late.

So how do I get him to stay in bed? And should I wake him up by say 3:00 no matter when his nap finally started so that maybe he'll fall asleep sooner at night? What do you think?

We finally got out of the house for a little while today. Went to Main Street and visited with Mom, Dad and Matt. It was nice to see them. Dayton has a funny new phrase that he is saying a lot: Damn it! I tried and tried to get him to say it and he would not. Just giggled a lot. Sarah used to say that too; I wonder where they're learning it?

For those of you who have fun placing bets on when I will get pregnant next, you should know that I went to the doctor today and invested a pretty penny on long term contraception. So if you haven't placed your bets yet, you may want to consider that information.

Thanks Mom for babysitting for me today. I could hear Maggie crying out in the waiting room. I hope it wasn't too awful. I love you all and love to hear your comments. See you tomorrow.

Happy Monday?

Today was such a Monday. Sarah is still sick. Or Sarah is sick again, I'm not sure which. She had a stomach bug all day today. I've never seen a kid puke so much. If she doesn't get well soon, I'm going to go crazy. I can't get anything done and I can't leave the house and the poor little pumpkin is just miserable.

Moving is going very slow. Chance is about half done with the painting and so far it looks awesome! I am so glad I went with red for the kitchen it's going to look so good. Now I can't wait to see the yellow. My craft room is about half moved and about half of all our books are in the new house and that's all that's done so far. We are going to schedule movers for a week from Thursday so that's good because it sort of gives us a deadline to meet. Also, the carpet was installed downstairs on Monday and I love, love, love it! How fun.

I am really excited about Sarah's birthday. She'll be five on Sunday. If she's feeling better, Chance and I are going to take her out to breakfast Friday morning and then to the mall to pick out anything she wants at the Disney store. It should be really fun, I am totally into it.

I guess that's about it for today. Sorry there are no pictures from the weekend. I'm still trying to get into the habit of taking more photos. I find it hard to find interesting things to photograph. Are we that boring?

Marathon Maggie

I just got an e-mail from my "too cool for school" sister. She started her own blog to keep track of her marathon training! I am such an inspiration! I'll accept that as her apology for teasing me.

So I was able to load my photo from yesterday just fine. Go figure. It is a shot of my kids playing together. I made Davis hold the baby just to get them all four together. Davis went to Google Earth yesterday and plotted out a route for his trip around the world. This is him sitting at the kitchen table figuring out the mileage. What a kid. Dayton and Sarah follow him around all the time just wanting to be included in his play. What sweet brothers and sisters.

I hope they get along better than Matt and Maggie and I did. I remember us bickering and fighting an awful lot. I know Maggie agrees with me, especially about her and Matt. I was the oldest and they were closer in age to each other. I wonder how Matt feels about it. I don't recall ever asking him about it.

Chance started painting tonight and is at the other house now. He would rather do anything in the world rather than paint so I appreciate his work just that much more. In fact, if he is down there painting my house right now, I should probably be doing the dinner dishes. Especially since he also cooked. See you all tomorrow.

Thinking About Returning to Blogging and an Update

Hi. Hello. Anyone out there? I'm thinking about returning to the blog to share what's happening in my life. And with my kids. And ...
