Oh how I love family traditions! Traditions are one of the things that make a family feel like a family. (Random: I highly recommend the book Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families by Stephen Covey!) Dayton woke us up to tell us that the Easter Bunny had been here and even though it was 45 minutes to an hour before Chance and I got out of bed, the kids hadn't touched the candy! Miracles do happen. We started out the day with coloring Easter eggs and watching General Conference. Actually, watching Conference isn't a tradition for us but it went so well today (just the morning session) I'm looking forward to this fall when we can try it again.
One of my favorite newer traditions is our Easter Egg Hunt that Nama Jane and Papa Dale have in their backyard. They have an amazing backyard...
My mom and dad built their home on about an acre of property that was at the very north end of my Grandpa Lindley's farm. It was filled with locust trees and we called it "The Grove". We had several Easter egg hunts there when I was a child too. My Grandma "Boo Jean" (her name was LouJean, but as a little girl I said it wrong. How cute am I?) would hide eggs back there and they could be very hard to find because the place was very overgrown!
I caught Davis taking eggs out of his bag and putting them into Maggie's bag. Seriously, that kid is one in a million! Not to mention funny...he has been cracking me up lately.
The only trouble with Easter is that it is usually cold and today was no exeption. The wind blew and we wore our winter coats and wished for sunshine. But, you know, the chocolate and peeps tasted just as good! We also celebrated Brooklyn, Davis and Dayton's birthdays today. It was lovely except that poor Brooklyn has this one Aunt who is an airhead (having four kids robbed her of a lot of brain cells) and forgot that we would be celebrating her birthday today. I didn't forget that her birthday is Tuesday, I just forgot that I would need her gift TODAY. I'm sorry Brooklyn!
All in all, a wonderful Easter this year!
